Many people believe water conservation products only save water. They forget that it takes energy to heat the water we use everyday. Retrofitting the home with basic water conservation products is one of the most cost effective ways to save multiple natural resources, including your hard earned money! Residential water conservation products have come along way in recent years. Comparing products of today to those of just a few years ago will reveal better styling, better functionality, and operating features more like the water hogs of old.

Replacing older shower heads with low flow shower heads (those that use 2.5 gallons per minute or less) is a great way to save water and the energy it takes to heat the water. This is also a great way to give your shower a new look without spending a lot of money. Low Flow shower heads are available in updated styles including hand held shower heads. One of the common complaints with low flow products of the past was not enough out put to give a good shower. With today’s technology these products are far superior to the early low flow models and provide a very comfortable shower experience.

One of the simplest and least expensive ways to save money and energy is to replace sink faucet aerators with low flow aerators. The look is the same as the old ones, performs the same, but saves water and energy. The cost of new faucet aerators can be less than $2.00. If your home’s faucets (kitchen and bath) are 5 years old or more, its time to replace the aerators and start saving money.
